User talk:Mion
Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel irc:wikimedia-commons #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

You should have received this: many links and pointers to start reading. (I guess all new users receive this now). Moed en veel plezier. --Foroa (talk) 07:10, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Image:Fuellcell.en3.jpg[edit]
Image deletion warning | Image:Fuellcell.en3.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Hello!
Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. 78.49.168.214 06:50, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Hydrogen compounds[edit]
Hi Mion,
I've undone the changes you recently made to various images I've upload of dihydrogen, H2.
This is because dihydrogen is not a compound. The definition of a chemical compound requires two different chemical elements to be present. This is not the case for H2. It is, however, a molecule.
Cheers

Commons was more fun before[edit]
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Help_desk/Archives/2008Jan#DOF_questions <-- when the help desk was cool. That flickr user changed their avatar right after that. I was going to make a web page that was going to be entitled "Windows Software Designer Certification" and give a little how to change an avatar at Flickr. I was even considering to put a button that attached to a credit card form to "pay" the $20,000 to receive the certification training. It was to be a joke on a linux software web site, if you can imagine this. I have found that the users here are very intelligent but the admin is not -- at least the ones I have encountered here.
I dislike very much en:WP:PAP <-- "Pasting Abbreviation Problem". Commons had some weird problems going on but not as weird as it became after I was banned by a group of mentally challenged (I actually have worked with the mentally challenged in real life and they do not have many of the problems I encountered there, so if anyone who is mentally challenged is reading this, do not be offended!) administrators. I become a little cussed when I see that indoctrination being used.
I have a question for you. What was the reason you were searching for "gallery" here instead of the name of an image subject? -- carol (talk) 23:25, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Carol, to answer the last first, Stumble upon, I had a talk with Mbeychok about pressure vessels en:Talk:Pressure_vessel#types_of_pressure_vessel, rounding up pressure vessels, i encountered the gallery by typing Pressure vessel in search and landing on a dead end gallerypage,, by adding it to the category, the assumption is that the category is more accessible (which contains more images), so the search for gallery was more about instructions how to implement it following commons and to find more information/reasoning why it was implemented, the approach is not new for me, i'm familiar with RSgallery [1], [2], Mayflower didn't do the job [3], WikiWix [4] I'll have a look on DOF later. Cheers Mion (talk) 08:01, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- In the mean time, can you explain why commons was more fun before i made 493 edits on it ? -:) Mion (talk) 09:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think it has to do with the universal login and for whatever reason, an inflow of English wikipedia style. Which is interesting, what reason to be here when they have that huge wiki running the way they want it? This was to be both an apology and the example was a goal. -- carol (talk) 19:26, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks Carol, and the whatever reason is obvious, if all images are moved to commons from a local wiki, people will follow, as for the goal, i agree, but still even as programs will do all the work its humans who use them and therefore a human framework/presentation is in need. cheers Mion (talk) 19:59, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

- DOF: i wouldn't rely on the UUID, Exif/IPTC/XMP data as it not sanitised, the camera isn't calibrated, see machine vision/digital image processing. Cheers Mion (talk) 19:01, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
